Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 22, 2026

1. Introduction

MatFlow ("we," "us," or "our") is a strength and conditioning application designed for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we need each category, where it is processed, and the choices you have. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to the practices described here.

2. Information We Collect & Why

We collect only what is needed to run your training experience:

  • Account Information — email address and a hashed password. Why: to create and secure your account and to send essential service messages.
  • Profile Data — belt rank, body weight, training experience, goals, and injury history you voluntarily enter. Why: body weight informs load recommendations and progress tracking; belt rank and goals tailor programming; injury history lets the app adapt or substitute exercises around your limitations.
  • Training Data — workout logs, sets, reps, weights, RPE scores, session feedback, and post-workout notes. Why: to track progress, calculate trends, and generate personalized AI plans. This is the core data that powers your dashboard.
  • Payment & Billing Data — handled by our payment processor, Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. Why: to process purchases of memberships, subscriptions, and AI credit packs.
  • Usage & Analytics Data — how you interact with the app (feature usage, crashes, approximate location by country, and analytics events). Why: to fix bugs, improve reliability, and understand which features matter.
  • Email Engagement Data — whether product-update emails we send are opened, tracked via a tracking pixel. Why: to measure whether our communications are useful and to stop sending what isn't read.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your data to:

  • Generate personalized, AI-driven training plans, phases, and smart sessions.
  • Generate AI exercise demonstration videos.
  • Track your progress, workout history, and strength trends over time.
  • Adapt exercises around logged injuries and limitations.
  • Process payments and manage your membership, subscription, or credit balance.
  • Send account, service, and product-update notifications.
  • Improve app reliability and which features we invest in (via anonymized analytics).

4. AI Processing & Third-Party Services

To power AI features (workout generation, smart sessions, exercise videos, and injury-aware adaptations), we send relevant inputs — such as your training history, profile, and injury notes — to third-party AI providers. The providers we use include:

  • xAI and Google (Gemini/Veo) — for generating training plans, coaching responses, and exercise demonstration videos.
  • Stripe — for securely processing payments.
  • Google Tag Manager / analytics — for measuring app usage and performance.
  • Cloud hosting & email delivery providers — for storing your data and sending you notifications.

We do not sell your personal data. Each provider is used under terms that require them to protect your information. Note on AI providers: when your data is sent to an AI provider to generate a plan or video, that provider may retain inputs according to its own policies. We send only what is necessary for the request and do not use your data to train general-purpose models on your behalf. Where we use aggregated, anonymized data to improve MatFlow, it is stripped of identifiers like your name and email first.

5. Data Sharing

We share data only with the service providers listed above and only as needed to deliver the feature you're using. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users or MatFlow. We never sell your personal information to advertisers or data brokers.

6. Data Retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your profile, training logs, injury records, and associated content from our systems. Some records may persist in backups for a limited time before being permanently deleted. Data already shared with a third-party AI provider for a completed request is subject to that provider's retention policy.

7. Your Rights & Choices

You can manage your data directly in the app — no email required:

  • See your data: Your workout history, logs, and profile are always visible on your Dashboard and Profile pages.
  • Correct your data: Edit your profile, weight, belt rank, goals, and injury records any time from the Profile page. Update or delete workout logs from your history.
  • Delete your account & data: Use the Delete account option in Profile settings to permanently erase your account and associated data.
  • Opt out of analytics & email tracking: You can disable marketing/analytics where your device or browser allows, and unsubscribe from product-update emails via the link in those emails. Note that disabling analytics does not affect core training features.

If you have trouble with any of these, reach out through the in-app feedback tool (the notification bell → Share Feedback) and we'll help.

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest, hashed passwords, and access controls that limit who at MatFlow can see account data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information and to notify affected users in the event of a breach.

9. Children's Privacy

MatFlow is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a minor has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as we add features or change providers. We will post the updated policy in the app and, for significant changes, notify you within the app or by email. The "Last updated" date at the top always reflects the current version.

11. Contact Us

Questions about your data or this policy? Use the in-app feedback tool (notification bell → Share Feedback), or contact the email shown on your Profile page, and we'll respond.
